Henry Ford’s comment about the cohesive unit explains teamwork well, “Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is success.” Teams certainly must avoid the more common accomplishment of groupthink which abhors diverse points of view as arbitrary to the whole. We’ll discuss this more in depth later. Please see an example in the video below.

Teams may like families bicker in their pursuits. What remains however, is there agreement on a common goal. A fine leader can make the disagreements work symphonically. Where teams can articulate the vision along with the principles of how the team is to see the objective fulfilled.

The more diverse the team the more strikingly innovative the result can be.

Staying true to the mission means finding differences complimentary. Viewing strengths and weaknesses as valuable. Each improves the capability whole.  

A team must work not to make each other the same but committed to working together. Families after all bicker and are sometimes divisive yet they love, respect and work towards a common goal. They practice working in unison. This means sacrificing for the good of the whole.
